Dear Brian Ellis and ECI Builders,
I wanted to let you know how pleased
I have been with the work your company did on my basement.
It was done in a very timely and professional manner. I also
wanted you to be aware of the exceptional job done by all
of your workers, but especially tom and Nate. They treated
me with the utmost respect throughout the entire process.
Tom was helpful and courteous and would phoneme with any delays.
Nate was professional in every sense and did a tremendous
job. I also wanted you to know that Fred went the extra mile
for me when he was cleaning up the drywall mess. It was raining
outside and he went and purchased a tarp so he wouldn't get
my floor dirty.
Again, thank-you for all your hard work,
I will definitely be recommending your company to my friends.
Sincerely
Jennifer Taiarol

Dear Brian:
Jon and I wanted to express our deep
satisfaction and appreciation for the job that was completed
at our home in the fall of 2000. We have lived in our home
for 10 years and during that time, have been under construction
and/or remodeling for the past nine years.
On two separate remodeling projects,
we have experienced many construction contractor problems.
These problems consisted of average to poor quality workmanship,
sloppy or no clean up, no communication, subcontractors not
being paid by the builder, and finally, unresolved contractual
agreements that ended up in court proceedings-a nightmare.
And in both instances, these contractors had impeccable references.
Our dream over the last decade was to
make our kitchen/bath/foyer/living room a work of art-a reflection
of who we were, with an expression of high quality appliances,
finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, etc. This was truly a labor
of love for us.
Finding Scott Boyer at "Creative
Designs Plus" was a blessing. With his help, we designed
our "dream" kitchen and your crews made this dream
a reality. The crews showed up on time every day, ready to
work. If for some reason the crew was not to be on the job,
there was always a phone call to let us know what was happening
at all times. We really appreciated the thorough level of
communication exhibited by Jon Kelly, the foreman. Your people
were a pleasure to deal with in this very stressful time.
They really cared about making sure our project was finished
properly, in a neat and timely fashion. The workmanship was
outstanding and we are immensely pleased with the finished
project. It is beautiful!
Please feel free to us as a reference
for any prospective clients you may have in the future. After
what we had been through, your company has restored our faith
in the building trade. Thank you for helping to make our dream
turn into a reality!
Sincerely,
Jon and Shelley Litteral

Customer Expectations
Job Start
Job start is on a first come first serve basis. Typically
we can start any project within two to four weeks once you
sign a contract. We will not start your project until we can
devote the time and resources to complete it timely. When
jobs linger it does not help the homeowner or the contractor.
We cannot get paid for a job completion and the customer cannot
get back to their normal home schedule.
Daily Schedule
Our employees will be to jobsite typically around 8:00 am
and work a normal 8-hour day until 4:30 or 5:00 pm. We typically
do not work on Saturday or Sunday unless we notify you ahead
of time. We stay on our jobs working every day once the job
starts unless certain circumstances arise. These would be
events such as inclement weather, sick employees calling in,
unavailability of necessary materials on back-order, waiting
for an inspector, a subcontractor ran over on their previous
job by one day, etc. Typically a job will never sit empty
with no progress for more than one day unless extremely unusual
circumstances arise out of our control.
We are available on a daily basis in the
office if you have any concerns or questions. It is not unusual
to work for several days at a time with little or no contact
with a customer. Every client has a different level of comfort
regarding how often our managers communicate with him or her
and we are here to help you through your project with as much
attention as you need. Whether its every day or once a week
we are working to satisfy your need.
Jobsite Access
Whether a homeowner wants to be home during construction is
completely up to our client. If we are working on a home when
the homeowner is not present we can set up access in a variety
of ways. We can put a key in a lockbox on a door at the residence.
We can hide a garage door opener in common place on the property.
A customer can leave the rear door or side entrance open for
us each day that we lock when we leave. We can gain access
to your garage with a keypad code. In any case, whether you
are home or not, we want you to be comfortable with ECI Builders
working in your home. Note: all of our employees go through
an extensive background check and screening prior to being
hired. We take great pride in the quality of our people.
Materials and Trash
We may need to store materials at your jobsite for short lengths
of time. We may also need to store a dumpster at the jobsite
from time to time. If materials need to be stored in a covered
area we may ask to use a small area of a clients garage.
We strive to keep a clean and organized jobsite and we try
to contain the dust by using plastic sheeting whenever possible.
Cleanliness is extremely important to us on a jobsite. Please
remember it is impossible to contain all the dust on a construction
site and no matter how well we try there will always be a
small amount of dust to contend with.
Noise and Jobsite Precautions
During the construction process expect some noise. If the
job is going to be extra noisy on a certain day we will notify
our customers ahead of time so they can make arrangements
to leave if they desire. We always ask our customers to take
down any pictures or any home furnishings prior to a job start.
There is always potential for decorations such as pictures
in adjacent areas to fall down resulting from heavy vibrations
and pounding during construction.
Emergency Numbers to Contact Us
In the event of an emergency or you need to contact us about
an important matter after business hours our pager number
is 248-815-3395. The office answering service also has the
number on the message if you need it.
Licensing
We are a licensed builder in the State of Michigan. We can
provide you with a copy of our license upon your request.
Insurance
Our workers are covered by workers compensation insurance.
We also have general liability insurance with adequate coverage.
You can contact the McLeod Agency at 248-540-1020 if you would
like a copy of our insurance certificates sent to you.
Waivers
If you would like proof that all workers on your jobsite have
been paid in full we obtain all the necessary waivers from
everyone who works on your job. We can provide you with the
necessary documentation if you desire.
Referrals
We can provide you with customer names of jobs we have completed.
We have many written testimonials as well. We will even take
the time to meet with you and travel to a jobsite near you
to show you a prior job we have completed in order for you
to see the quality of work we provide. The best way to prove
to our potential customers that we are the preferred builder
is to take them to a job we have completed and talk to some
of our customers and get a visual of the work.
Money Matters
All contracts specify payment terms and are done on a draw
system. As the work is completed we invoice for that portion
of work that has been completed on the job. We handle any
extra costs in writing with a change order and no extra charges
will be invoiced unless it is writing in the form of a change
order. We do accept Visa and MasterCard. We can also help
finance your project if you desire. Our office manager can
typically answer all billing questions.
Employees vs. Subcontractors
We typically self perform as much of your project as we can.
We currently have as many as 20 full time employees including
carpenters, painters, laborers, project managers etc. Like
all builders it is necessary to hire licensed mechanical contractors
to perform the services they are licensed to perform. This
would be trades such as a plumber, a heating and cooling contractor
and electricians. We have developed longstanding relationships
with our subcontractors and we are confident in the ones we
select to work with on your project. We pride ourselves on
paying our subcontractors on time and it allows us to obtain
quality businesses in each trade.
